Programs & Incentives

The Army Veterinary Corps offers programs and incentives designed to support and reward veterinary professionals serving in the Army. One key initiative is the Health Professions Scholarship Program (HPSP), which provides scholarships to veterinary students for up to three years, including full tuition, a stipend, and certain academic expenses. Upon graduation, HPSP participants are promoted to Captain and attend the First Year Graduate Veterinary Education Program for hands-on training covering clinical medicine, public health, leadership, and hospital management.

For veterinarians with educational loans, the Army offers repayment programs like the Active Duty Health Professions Loan Repayment Program (ADHPLRP) and the Reserve Component Health Professional Loan Repayment Program (RCHPLRP). ADHPLRP repays qualified loans annually for a maximum of three years with a corresponding service obligation, while RCHPLRP offers loan repayment for satisfactory service in various Army Reserve programs. Additionally, the Army provides an Active Duty Accession Bonus for veterinarians committing to four years of service and a USAR Accession Bonus for those choosing to affiliate with the Army Reserve for two to four years.

Further enhancing the appeal of a career in the Army Veterinary Corps are incentives like Incentive Pay (IP), which recognizes professional education and qualifications, and Board Certification Pay (BCP), which encourages and rewards board certification. These incentives highlight the Corps' commitment to professional development and excellence in veterinary care.
